‘Posture,’ ‘Mayans M.C’, ‘Love, Victor’ Amongst Imagen Awards Winners

FX’s Pose and Mayans M.C. and Hulu’s Love, Victor were amongst the winners of the 2021 Imagen Awards, which were given out Sunday night.

Netflix’s Ya No Estoy Aquí and PopTV’s One Day at a Time animated unique likewise took house leading honors throughout the event, which was streamed on PBSSoCal.org and KCET.org.

In addition, the Norman Lear Writer’s Award existed to playwright and tv author Tanya Saracho, who is the developer, showrunner, and executive manufacturer of the Starz series Vida Saracho likewise was called finest television director.

Meanwhile, Pose was called finest primetime drama and likewise made a finest starlet win for Mj Rodriguez. JD Pardo of Mayans M.C. was called finest star in a drama series.

On the funny side, Love, Victor was called finest primetime program and made a finest star nod for Michael Cimino, while the animated episode of One Day at a Time made the Imagen Award for finest primetime program– unique or film and Justina Machado was called finest voice-over star for the unique. Finest starlet in a funny series honors went to Barbie Ferreira of HBO Max’s Unpregnant

Scooping up supporting starlet and star honors in drama were Morena Baccarin of Paramount ‘s The Twilight Zone and Colman Domingo of HBO’s Euphoria Harvey Guillén of FX’s What We Do in the Shadows and Diana Maria Riva of Netflix’s Dead to Me were called finest supporting star and starlet in a funny, respectively.

Madison Reyes of Netflix’s Julie and the Phantoms was called finest young star, while the program was handed the award for finest young-adult programs. Nickelodeon’s The Casagrandes was called finest youth shows.

Meanwhile, in movie, Ya No Estoy Aquí was called finest function, while the movie’s Fernando Frías De La Parra was called finest director. Demián Bichir won finest star for L a nd, while Aubrey Plaza won finest starlet for Black Bear.

The Imagen Awards were developed in 1985 after a recommendation by Norman Lear to motivate and acknowledge the favorable representations of Latinos in the media. The 2021 winners were identified by an independent panel of show business executives and Latina and Latino neighborhood leaders.

The event was hosted by Aida Rodriguez ( Last Comic Standing), Chuey Martinez ( Dish Nation), Isabella Gomez ( One Day at a Time) and Karrie Martin Lachney ( Gentefied). The style was “A Celebration of Our Community: Diverse, Talented, and United.”

In addition, the event included unique musical efficiencies by artists Bomba Yemaya, Las Cafeteras, Las Colibrí, Ally Brooke and Ozomatli.
